Heritage Collection – Wrought Iron Furniture

Handcrafted pieces made by skilled artisans, committed to quality and to preserving traditional craftsmanship.

As the heir to a family involved in furniture making since 1920 in Rolle,
Gérard Moinat revived the production of historical wrought iron models
and now develops collections combining heritage with a contemporary spirit.

Founded in 1920 by Louis Moinat, the company began by reproducing French garden furniture models. A genuine collection grew and was distributed across Switzerland before production came to a halt in the early 2000s due to the loss of the last qualified craftsman.

To preserve this heritage, Gérard Moinat reorganised production by bringing together European craftsmen from various trades. The furniture is designed based on historical models or created by designers, then shaped in red-hot steel and worked over templates to ensure precision in forms and scrollwork.

Finishing is a key stage: sandblasting, anti-rust treatment, high-grade paints or decorative finishes such as black galvanisation, copper plating, nickel plating or copper leaf gilding. Specific processes such as powder coating protect metals and extend their durability, creating a bridge between traditional techniques and modern aesthetics.

For outdoor models, each piece is complemented with bespoke cushions. Their “hydro” foam is designed for exterior use, resisting moisture and water, while the customisable Sunbrella covers maintain their appearance and performance wash after wash.
